Linux apps on Android

How to run Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI on Android

Install AiCLI from Google Play. It gives you an Ubuntu terminal on Android that is set up for command-line AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and Gemini CLI. You sign in to each AI service with your own account.

Step by step

  1. Install the app from Google Play

Search Google Play for AiCLI by UserLAnd Technologies, or use the button on this page. It is a one-time purchase.

  2. Open it and let it set up

The first launch downloads and sets up the Linux files the app needs. Stay on Wi-Fi; this only happens once.

  3. Start your AI tool and sign in

In the terminal, start the AI coding tool you want to use and sign in with your own account for that service. The agent then works in your terminal, with access to local files and the shell.

  4. Install anything else you need

AiCLI runs Ubuntu, so sudo apt install adds compilers, runtimes and other tools for you or your agent.

What you get

  • Run Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and Gemini CLI on Android
  • Ubuntu underneath, so you can install any package you or your agent needs
  • Terminal-native agents that can read and edit local files and run commands

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet with Google Play
  • Free storage for the Linux files (a tablet or a phone with a large screen is most comfortable)
  • Internet for the first-time setup
  • Optional: a Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse

Prefer free? Run it inside UserLAnd

UserLAnd is free: install Ubuntu in UserLAnd, then install the AI coding tools yourself in its terminal. AiCLI saves those setup steps, and buying it supports UserLAnd development.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need accounts for the AI services?

Yes. AiCLI is not any of these tools, and it does not include AI service access. Sign up for each service you want to use.

Can the agent install software?

Yes. AiCLI runs Ubuntu, so the agent (or you) can install packages with apt.

Can I do this for free with UserLAnd?

Yes. Install Ubuntu in UserLAnd and then install the AI tools yourself. AiCLI saves those setup steps.
